Highlights of the February 15, 2001, Regular Meeting
of the Minford Local Board of Education.
Minford Schools Band Director, Jamie Martin and Band Booster, Angie
Ryder, provided the Board with an update on their efforts to secure new
uniforms for the Mighty Marching Falcons.
Band member, Catlin Miller, was attired in a sample uniform. The
board indicated that the school district would send in the deposit so that
the uniforms could be made in time for marching season.
Superintendent Dennis Meade, discussed the upcoming Dedication Ceremony
for the new high school. The ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. in
the new gym on Monday, March 12th. The public is invited to attend.
In action the Board:

Accepted the revisions of the High School Student Handbook as presented
by teh principal, Robert Shaffer.

Recognized the Minford Lions Club contribution of $7, 500 to defray costs
of construction of new tennis courts for the school and community's use.
The donation is appreciated.

Employed James Potter as Day Custodian assigned to the middle school.

Recognized teams for their athletic and academic achievements.

Authorized the Treasure to advise for bids on supplying bread and milk
products for school year 2001-2002.

Approved transfers as recommended by the Treasure, Melinda Hutchinson.

Approved payment to Scholastic for middle school magazines.

Adjusted the salary for the rest of the 200-2001 school year for the following
teachers.

Granted an easement and right of way to the American Electric Power for
new underground feeds to the Middle/Primary School Project.

Entered into agreement with Amerada Hess for transportation of natural
gas.
The next regular meeting of the Minford Board of Education will March 15,
2001, 6:00 p.m. in the high school library, 491 Bond Road.
CORRECTION: Claudette Dorothy Murphy's years of service member nearly
31 years, not 25 as originally presented. She has driven a school
bus during this time for Minford and has served in the Middle School kitchen
since August 1992. She will be missed!
