Highlights of the August 17, 2000, Regular Meeting of the Minford Local Board of Education

Prior to the meeting, a tour of the high school was conducted for Board Members.  The move to the new high school is scheduled for December with students beginning the new year in the facility.

The 2000-2001 school year begins with an emphasis on the results of the hard work or our Continuous Improvement Plan participants.  The Minford Local School District's Mission Statement is:

Our Mission is to produce well balanced graduates who are productive citizens with high moral character, striving toward life-long leering goal.

This statement is based upon the core values of the school ands community and the resulting belief which were completed in July of 1999.

Behind all the goals and benchmarks lies the vision statement:

Within the next five years the Minford Local School District will become more student focused community and staff to achieve their highest levels of ability.  Adult members of the Minford Community will contribute to the education of our children by providing active involvement, constructive input and positive support to the district.  The schools will be attractive, modern facilities offering a student focused atmosphere conductive to improved student learning.  Our teachers and staff will facilitate increase student learning through the use of a variety of teaching methods, respectful of diversity and designed to meet the individual needs and learning styles of our students.  Minford students will feel secure in their learning environment and will be encouraged to develop as confident, self-reliant learners actively involved in problem solving, global learning and the utilization of technology as their medium for life-long learning.

Throughout this school year, the Continuous Improvement Plan Committees will be working on implementing of the plan.  On July 21, 2000, we received a letter from the Sate Department of Education, giving  full approval to Min ford's Plan.  Let us all join together to make our schools even better equipped to meet our children's needs.
