Some parents expressed concerns about the lunchroom discipline procedures in the primary lunchroom.  Tim Allen, Principal, had sent letters home to parents inviting them to visit the school and lunchroom.  Dennis Meade, Superintendent, invited the parents to come to the school and see for themselves the routine and practices that are part of the cafeteria lunch program.

A parents of a kindergarten student made several suggestions to improve the safety of students as they moved from modular buildings to the main building.

Karen Hayburn, Minford Literacy Grant Coordinator, made a presentation to the Board concerning modifying the primary curriculum to emphasize reading and math and integrated social studies, science and other subjects into these two areas
along with writing.  Several teachers from the primary attended to support the modification which was recommended by the Superintendent and Principal.

Dr. Randall Schlegel, Safe, Drug-Free Schools Grant Coordinator, made a presentation to discuss his programs for Minford students and community.

In action the Board:

• Approved a resolution rejecting and awarding a contract concerning construction of the new high school.

• Amended the agreement with Tanner & Stone, Architects to cover excess reimbursable cost.

• Entered into a agreement with Columbia Gas for a rate reduction program.

• Employed Cindy Dolan as a part-time  as-nedded Literacy Aide.

• Noted that a teacher will not need to have a extended day.

• Adjusted the salary of Charles Miller to a B.S. +5.

• Adjusted the salary of MArk Shonkwiler to reflect experience as Varsity Boys' Track Coach.

• Granted Michael Estep, high school Social Studied teacher, regular salary and benefits for the 2000-2001 school year.

• Approved conference attendance of Jamie Martin, Band Director, and Barbara Day, high school Art Teacher.

• Adjusted Permanent Annual Appropriations and the Amended Certificate of Estimated Reserves.

• Continued participation in the Scioto County Attendance Program.

• Held a first reading of Board Policy revisions for Policy No. 8.06 Student Promotion and Retention.

• Authorized the superintendent to apply for Technology Equity Grant Funds.
