Highlights of the September 19, 2000 Regular Meeting
of the Minford Local Board of Education
Some parents expressed concerns about the lunchroom discipline procedures in the primary lunchroom. Tim Allen, Principal, had sent letters home to parents inviting them to visit the school and lunchroom. Dennis Meade, Superintendent, invited the parents to come to the school and see for themselves the routine and practices that are part of the cafeteria lunch program.
A parents of a kindergarten student made several suggestions to improve the safety of students as they moved from modular buildings to the main building.
Karen Hayburn, Minford Literacy Grant Coordinator, made a presentation
to the Board concerning modifying the primary curriculum to emphasize reading
and math and integrated social studies, science and other subjects into
these two areas
along with writing. Several teachers from the primary attended
to support the modification which was recommended by the Superintendent
and Principal.
Dr. Randall Schlegel, Safe, Drug-Free Schools Grant Coordinator, made a presentation to discuss his programs for Minford students and community.
