Highlights of the August 1, 2002, Special Meeting of the Minford Local Board of Education

A special meeting of the Minford Local Board of Education was held on August 1, 2002, to have a work session and take care of any general business.

In action, the Board:

• Employed Dennis Evans as an administrator assigned to the Middle School as Assistant Principal.  Mr. Evans comes from the Valley School District where he taught science for eight years.  Welcome Dennis!
• Employed Kay Sykes as a Kindergarten teacher.  Mrs. Sykes comes from Temple Tots where she taught for several years.  She taught Kindergarten at Pickerington for several years prior to moving to our area.  Welcome Kay!
• Ken Henry's contract was adjusted to reflect extended time and years of experience.
• Volunteer assistants - Julie Maxfield - girl's tennis, Steve Marion and Jerry Coburn - soccer, were recognized for school year 2002 - 2003.

Following the board meeting action, the Board met with the administrative team to discuss future facilities and personnel.

The next regular meeting of the Minford Board of Education will be held at 6 p.m. on August 15, 2002.  Another work session will be held following the action portion of the meeting.

Board Retreat/Seminar

The Board conducted a Board/Administrator Retreat/Seminar with OSBA Southeast Regional Secretary, Paul Mock, on August 13th.  No meeting was held nor business conducted.

Time Flies!  Get Ready for 2002 - 2003!

A teacher's work day will be held on August 19, 2002.  Teachers are to report to their buildings as follows:

Grades K-5 8:30 a.m.

Grades 6 - 12 7:30 a.m.

Check with your building principal with any requests or concerns.
