Highlights of the July 25, 2002, Regular Meeting of the Minford Local board of Education Eleanor Karshner initiated a separate Treasurer's report to probide the Board with moer datailed information on the financial operations of the District. Greg Romanello of Gilbane Regency Polytech Construction Management Firm discussed the situation concerning Falcon Drive, the connector road for the new elementary school. *Approved Participation in the Cooperative Hearing Impared Program. *Approved the Consolidated continuous Improvement Plan of the federal
programs and their funding. Public comments for the utilization of
these funds are solicited and may be directed to: *Noted the transfer of Melissa Bennett from third to fourth grade and Jodi Ruby from kindergarten to second grade. *Approved the auction to be held August 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the Minford School football stadium parking lot. *Continued the contract with B & S Operations for EPA reports. *Approved a change order for mailboxes and casework at the elementary site. *Approved professional dues payment for district principals. *Continued membership in the Statewide Coalition for Equity and Adequacy. *Approved several suplemental contracts. *Noted the transfer of Barbara dever from the postion of Assistant Principal, Middle School to Assitant Principal, High School. *Emplyed Jody Puckett as a Social Studies teacher assigned to the high school. *Failed to employ a kindergarten teacher pending further information. *Employed Derek Marion and Nathan Franke for as-needed tech aides and Ann Shirey as part-time, as-needed tech assistant. *Accepted the resignation for retirement purpostes of District Maintenance Supervisor, David Smith. Dave has served Minford schools well since 1989 keeping the boilers going and buildings in operation. He is wished the best in the future. *Approved entering into contract with Four Season for maintenance plan preparation. *Accepted Broughton Foods' quote for milk products and Heiner's Bakery quote for bread products. *Approved Monarch's quote for stabilization and paving of Falcon Drive. A Special board meeting will be held Thrusday, August 1st at 6:00 p.m. in the high school media center. The next regular board meeting will be Thursday, August 15th at 6:00 p.m. in the high school media center. Time Flies! Get Ready for 2002-2003! A teachers' work day will be held on August 19 ,2002. Teachers are to report to their buildings as follows: Grades K-5 8:30 a.m. Check with your building principal with any requests or concerns. Opening Day for Teachers: August 20th 7:30-8:30 a.m. Breakfast Once again the breakfast wil be sponsored by the Minford Board of Education: Joe Stockham, President Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Board Member - Welcome Back Dennis Meade - recognition of new faculty Glann Franke - Update on CCIP, Battelle for Kids and LPDC. Amy O'Dell - Title One and new programming - Curriculum trends. Tracy Alley - Update on our Community Learning Center. Deborah Daniels - Bloodborne Pathogens Procedures. Dennis Meade - Next phase for our building program, state funding issues, Governor's Commission on Successful Teaching. Jackie Scott - MEA Membership. After the conclusion of the meeting, teachers will report to their respective buildings for further procedures, etc. A Word of Thanks if you see a custodian, groundskeeper, Marvin Wiehle or Maintenance Supervisor, Dave Smith or Chris Downey, give them a big THANK YOU for their efforts this summer.
