Highlights of the March 17, 2005, Regular Meetings of the Minford Local Board of Education

Board Mebers, John Jenkins, covered the Sports Complex update and recommended a Board Commitment be considered on going forth with the project at the April 21st meeting.

High School Principal, Robert Shaffer, discussed recent student activities with class officers and other student participants concerning planning for eighth grade orientation.

Board President, Troy Huff, reported that the final draft for acceptance of the Hiring Committee will be brought to the Board in April.

Superintendent Dennis Meade reported on the Polcy Review Committee's work and the consideration of a pre-employment druf testing policy. All proposed policies are up for a first reading.

Elementary Principal, Timothy Allen, reported on the gym bleacher project.

John Jenkins reported on OSBA Student Achievement and plans for a Minford programs to apply for inclusion in the Achievement Fair.

Superintendent Meade gave an update on school attendance. Minford's student attendance rate is excellent at this time.

Two members were appointed to the High School Principal's Basketball Coach Selection Committee, President, Troy Huff and Vice-president, Anita McGinnis.

In action the Board:

Declared Girls Soccer as an official Minford School Sport having had two successful pilot seasons.

Emplyed Gregory Shumway as a Custodian.

Awarded the following administrators four year contracts:

Timothy Allen - Elementary School
Kevin Lloyd - Middle School
Robert Shaffer - High School

Awarded a five year contract to Dennis Meade, Superintendent.

Entered into agreement with the Michael A Balestra for GAAP Conversion Service.

Recognized the following volunteers.

Approved several supplemental contracts for 2005-2006.

Entered into agreement with School Insurance Consultants, LLC for services.

Entered into agreement with the PILASCO-Ross SERRC for 2005-2006

Purchased on bus from Ohio Bus Sales.

Accepted the resignation of Zachery Conkel as part-time Technology Aide.

Employed Jacob Miller and Zackery Sims as part-time, as-needed Technology Aides.

The next meeting will be April 21, 2005, at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Media Center, 491 Bond Road, Minford.
