Overview of the Continuous Improvement Planning Process

The process of Continuous Improvement Planning began with the training of a district core team by Department of Education personnel in May, 1998.  Additional core team training for data analysis techniques was completed by the core team in February, 1999.

Continuous Improvement Planning in the Minford Local Schools has involved both a total district and building level approach.  The District's CIP Advisory Council, consisting of twenty-six (26) members of the school and community began its planning activities on May 17, 1999.  The Advisory Council met twice monthly throughout the summer and continued its activities through October, 1999.  The Advisory Council reviewed a variety of district data and programs and compiled a series of district level goals and strategies of improvement.

Building level CIP teams were formed during the 1999-2000 school year.  Elementary teachers selected one of five proficiency area teams on which to serve while subject specific teams were formed in grades six through twelve.  Teams of teachers, administrators and curriculum personnel began reviewing data as a preliminary step toward development of the building level CIPs during the November 11, 1999, staff inservice.  Based upon the configuration of our three bugs and the State's Proficiency Testing Program, teacher teams were formed to address student achievement needs in grades K-4, 5-6 and 7-12, reading, writing, mathematics, science, citizenship.  Additional teams were formed to focus on Community Engagement and Barriers to Learning.

A Timeline identifying the dates and activities of both the District Advisory Council as well as the Building Level teams is included in the Appendix C.
