Highlights of the August 28, 2003, Regular Meeting of the Minford Local Board of Education

Principals, Kevin Lloyd, Tim Allen and Bob Shaffer commented on the smooth start of school.  Also, the principals praised the work of the custodial staff in getting the schools ready for the new school year.  They felt that the custodians did a first class job.  Superintendent Meade discussed a letter of request from the kindergarten teachers concerning our rising enrollment.

In action, the Board:

  • Approved the 2003-2004               Transportation Plan.
  • Employed Faculty members for home instruction.
  • Approved a second year of unpaid leave for a cook for medical reasons.
  • Employed Derek Marion and Justin Miller as part-time, as-needed Technology Aides.
  • Reconized Jack Dempsey as a Jr. High Football Volunteer.
  • Accepted the Teacher and Student Handbooks Subject to revision as needed.
  • Employed Norma Shoemaker and Lena Gambill as part-time, as-needed Handicapped Student Aides.

 

  • Adjusted the salary of several teachers to reflect additional university training:

    Kyle Copley - Masters
    Melanie Jayne - Masters
    Kimberly Jenkins - Masters +15
    Charles Miller, Jr. - Masters

    Congratulations!
  • Approved continuing participation in the Scioto County Teen Tobacco Education Program.
  • Accepted a donation from the Red Cross for the "Making a Difference" Program.
  • Employed Brandy Roberson as a Home Instruction Teacher.
  • Approved entering into a contract for consultation services with Michael Schuster Associates.
  • Approved a change order to West End Electric to install projector and screen on the new high school stage.
  • Changed the September Regular meeting to September 18, 2003, 6:00 p.m. in the high school media center
