Minford High School
NationalHonor Society Rules & Requirements

The selection procedure for being a member of the Honor Society is as follows:

Based upon the existing 4.0 scale and 5.0 systems any student with a 3.4 average or higher on the 4.0 scale or a 4.25 average or higher on the 5.0 scale will be placed on a list of eligible candidates.
Beginning with the class of 2003 only the 4.0 scale will be used.

Teachers who have had these candidates in class for one semester or longer are asked to evaluate each student on a rating sheet based upon character,  leadership,  and service.

These ratings will be averaged with the students GPA.  In the tabulations a student must achieve a 3.6 or higher average score to be eligible.

All students must complete a survey for admission to the Honor Society.  This survey will be made available by the advisors to all qualifying students.

All eligible candidates must have passed all four parts of the Ninth Grade Proficiency Test.

All students must maintain a 3.4 or higher grade point average on the 4.0 scale (or a 4.25 or higher on the 5 point scale) each six weeks after induction to remain a member in good standing.  Any student who falls below this score any six weeks period will be notified that he/she has been placed on probation.  If the student falls below the 3.4 GPA (or 4.25) for two consecutive six weeks periods,  he/she will be dismissed from the Honor Society and will not be eligible for reinstatement.

All students must abide by the rules as outlined in the local constitution of the Butcher-Coriell Chapter of the National Honor Society.
