Lancaster Invitational

Minford Cross Country ran Saturday in the Lancaster Invitational. The Jr High boys ran first, and each ran their personal best time. Nick Blackburn came in at 14:04, followed by Brandon Muck with a 14:25, and Timmy Ramey with a 14:36. The Girls' Jr High team was lead by Elizabeth Brisker with a personal best time of 16:23, followed by Kelsey Turner with a personal best of 18:04, then Sagan Gampp with a 20:04, and Andrea Culp with a personal best of 21:58. This was the teams first experience in a very large invitational, and they performed at their best.
The high school boys ran slower than usual. By the time they raced at 1:00 pm, the heat was a factor and our senior runner, Travis Johnson, was plagued with cramps toward the end of the race. They were led by Drew Roffe with a 20:53, followed by Travis with a 21:10, Brain Muck with a 25:51 and Luke Culp with a 26:07.
The high school girls had two earn medals. Amber Roffe, a medalist, ran a 24:52 and Becca Bryan, also a medalist, ran a 25:06, Melissa Hayward ran a 27:08, Lexie Turner ran a 27:55 and Melinda Hayward ran a 34:06. These times are also much slower than their usual times. I believe the heat was also a factor with their times.
