Head Coach Bob Ashley

Bob Ashley - Head Varisty Football Coach/Offensive Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach
Bob Ashley goes into his 2nd year at Minford, his 7th as head football coach. Bob will serve as Offensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach.

Bob is a 1982 graduate of Meigs High School, where he received a scholarship to the University of Utah as a quarterback. Bob transferred to West Virginia State where he was a 3-time All-Conference Player and a 3-time All-American Player. Much of his football background and philosophy were developed during his collegiate playing days, as well as by his father, who has 30 years experience as a head football coach.

Bob will be teaching physical education at Minford Elementary Primary School. He and his wife Michelle reside in Portsmouth.

Andy Schmidt - Head Varsity Assistant/Defensive Coordinator/Offensive Tight-End Coach

Coach Andy Schmidt is starting his 3nd year as Head Varsity Assistant/Defensive Coordinator, and Offensive Tight-End Coach at Minford High School. Coach Schmidt is a 1988 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Coach Schmidt has been part of 7 SOC championships as a player/coach. He is employed at Andy Glockner Honda-Toyota as a Service Manager. He and his wife, Trisha, and daughter Hadyn, reside in Portsmouth.


Brent Daniels - Varsity Football Coach/Running Backs & Defensive Lineman Coach

Coach Daniels is entering his 14th season as Varsity Football Coach. He is beginning his 5th season as a Minford Football Coach. Prior to his arrival at Minford, Coach Daniels coached football at Wheelersburg for 3 years, Piketon for 1 year and Minford for 4 years. He will be coaching running backs and defensive linemen.

Coach Daniels is a 1989 graduate of Minford High School and a graduate of Shawnee State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Continuing his education at Rio Grande University, he received a Master's Degree in Special Education. He currently teaches Special Education at Minford Middle School.

Coach Brent Daniels and his wife, Deborah, are the parents of 2 children. The Daniels family resides in Minford.


Josh Matiz - DB's and Receivers Coach

Coach Josh Matiz is starting his 5th year as a Minford Falcon Football Coach. Prior to his arrival at Minford, Coach Matiz coached football at Portsmouth East High School for 2 years. He will be coaching DB's and Receivers for Minford.

Coach Matiz is a 1989 graduate of Portsmouth High School. At PHS he was a 3-year starter in football as a defensive back. His senior year, he was chosen First Team OKAC All Conference, First Team All District, and Honorable Mention All State as a Defensive Back.

Coach Matiz received a scholarship to West Virginia State. While playing football for WVState, he was a 4-year letterman as a Defensive Back. Coach Matiz graduated from WVState in 1993 with a degree in Physical Education.

Coach Matiz is starting his 8th year as a teacher. This will be his fourth year in the Minford School District. He is teaching Physical Education at Minford Middle School.


Bill Melvin - Offensive & Defensive Ends Coach

Coach Bill Melvin is entering his 6th season at Minford. He spent 2 years as a Junior High Coach and the last 3 years as the Freshman Head Coach & Varsity Assistant Coach. He is the Offensive and Defensive Ends Coach.

A graduate of Valley High School in 1989, he was a 4-year letterman in football. He was a member of the 1985 Championship Team, received second team all SOC honors as a Junior and first team all SOC honors as a Senior. Coach Bill Melvin played 1 year of college football at Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, PA.

Coach Melvin is a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic Medicine in Davenport, IA. He has and office in Minford and an office in Jackson. He and his wife, Kristi, reside in Minford. They have 3 girls attending Minford schools: Miranda, Macy, and Merrill K.


Justin H. Skeenes-played football from 1992-93 at West Virginia Technical Institute. He recieved his BA Board of Regents Degree from West Virginia University and his Master of Science from Marshall University.

Coach Skeenes will be returning to the Minford Football coaching staff for his third year.

Coach Skeenes, his wife Sarah, and their one-year-old son Ian, make their home in Portsmouth.
