The Lady Falcons finished fourth in the SOC II and with a winning record in 2004, but things might not be easy for the squad this year. Minford returns only three starters and we have to rely on a lot of youth to get through the season. Coach Jeff Bery said during scrimmages, even though the team is young, things are progressing well.
"They're holding their own right now," Berry said. "I'm very pleased so far."
Megan Messer, Megan Graf and Crystal Cinereski will return to claim three of the five infield spots, and the rest is up for grabs. Freshman Charity Moore and sophomore Alexis Mault are currently the front runners for the two pitching spots. Nicole Spriggs, Jennifer Diddle, Errinn Deever and Kylie Timmons will also see playing time for the Lady Falcons.
Berry said his team could do well, but in the loaded SOC II, it will take a team effort.
"Between West, Wheelersburg and Northwest, there's some great competition," Berry said. "Hopefully, we can improve individually and as a team this year."
