Minford 17, Portsmouth 8
Trailing the winless Trojans 7-5 after the third inning, the Lady Falcons scored 12 runs during the final four innings to come away with the win.
Minford’s Kristel Cinereski was 4 for 5 with six RBIs. Megan Graf and Charity Moore, also the winning pitcher, had three hits each. Alexis Mault drove in two runs for Minford, as did Dani Evans.
“Our hitting consistent in the last four innings, and we settled down a little bit defensively,” Minford coach Jeff Berry said. “They certainly were hungry for their first win, and we were able to prevent that by hitting well in the last four innings.”
Minford (7-5, 3-4) travels to Jackson today.
