It took a little longer than expected, but West finally got the job done on Wednesday.
With the Senators’ 4-2 win against Minford on the road, the team clinched a share of the SOC II title, tying with Wheelersburg at 13-1.
It is the eighth straight season the Senators have won or shared the SOC II crown.
“ I’m proud of these kids,” said West coach Daryl Brickey. “They worked hard, showed a lot of unity, hung in there, and it payed off. I’m tickled to death, and I’m sure we shocked a lot of people this year.”
Cassie Erlenwein struck out five in the win and Lindy Coleman went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Megan Messer went 3 for 4 and Megan Graf went 2 for 4 for Minford.
“ Everybody, from the kids, the community, even the groundskeeper, has helped us (win the championship),” Brickey said.
