Shane Davis started playing football for Minford at the age of 7.
He's grown up just a little since then.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound left tackle played in the 2003 East Coast Bowl in Petersburg, Va. He was on the North Team, which won 30-27.
Davis also spoke to various scouts from the Arena Football League and the CFL as well as representatives from the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks and the Cincinnati Bengals.
"I was nervous but at the same time I didn't know what to think," Davis said of his experience. "That's the dream, to play pro football."
He said the scouts took his height and weight but that they left immediately following the game.
The 22-year-old offensive lineman is considering his options and is planning to try out for the NFL this spring and summer at WVU, Ohio State and in Baltimore.
Davis knows the chances of jumping from an NCAA Div. II school to the NFL are slim -- but playing pro football is what he wants to do.
"There's NFL Europe and the CFL," he said. "Regardless of where it is (it would be my first choice.)"
If not, he said he wants to parlay his criminal justice degree from Fairmont State College into a job at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville or the Ohio River Valley Youth Facility in Franklin Furnace.
He graduated from Minford in 1999 after being names First Team All-SOC his junior and senior years.
After redshirting his first season at Fairmont he was a four-year starter and earned All-Conference honors every season.
