Girls Physical Education
1924 - 1925

written by Lucile Knore, 1925 yearbook

This is the first year that Physical Education has been given in Minford High School.  The first physical education class was held on September 30, 1924.  Classes met twice a week and we girls learned (or tried to learn) to march, play games, and to be graceful (?).  However learning to march was the most difficult task we undertook.

Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Violet, our instructor, certainly were very patient in directing us.  To them we owe, what we accomplished during the basketball season for their splendid work as coaches.

Our Physical Education Class was always looked forward to, more than our other classes due to the fact, I suppose--"All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy."

We were greatly benefited by the many exercises that we took, and it was noticeble that the girls became more interested in athletics.  The State requires Physical Education to be taught in our school, but we have no objections, as we enjoyed it more than any other class.
