Cora Agnes Smith, 66, of Woods Ridge Road, Portsmouth, died Friday, Dec.26, 2003, at her residence.
Born Feb. 11, 1937, in Jackson County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Stephen Andrew and Lilleth Lemaster Howard, she lived most of her life in Scioto County. She was a homemker, had worked for both the Williams Shoe Factory and as a bookkeeper for Sears Store in Portsmouth, and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Wheelersburg.
She is suvived by her husband, Owen Smith, Jr., whom she married Sept. 18, 1953, in Scioto County; two sons, Ron and Debby Smith of Reynoldsburg, Randy and Kelli Smith of Minford; two daughters, Andrea Gay and Dana Messer of Sciotoville, Pamela J. Smith of Woods Ridge Road, Portsmouth; Seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters, Genoa MacFadden of Owosso, Mich., Creola (Bob) Mustard of Vermilion, Alma (Melwood) Wright of Newark, Jean Varner of Amherst, Fla.; one stepsister, Helen (Herman) Eshem of Sciotoville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Dovie Howard; one son, Brian Scott Smith in infancy; two stepbrothers, Roy and Fred Sturgill; and a stepsister, Marie Nue.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Grace Fellowship Church on Dogwood Ridge Road in Wheelersburg, with Pastor Charles Pennington officiating. Burial will be in Smith-Claxon Cemetery in Greenup County, Ky. Friends may call at the Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 4 to 8 p.m. one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
