Harold David "Dave" Hickman, 75, of Minford, formerly of Back Run Road, Lucasville resident, went to be with the Lord Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Chris Hickman of Back Run Road, Lucasville.
Born July 4, 1928, in Lucasville, a son of the late John and Ella Mauck Hickman, he was a member of the Carpenters Local No. 437 for 53 years and a member of Harrison Free Will Baptist Church. Second only to his family, was his passion for farming, and he was also enjoyed hunting, fishing, buying, buying and selling livestock.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Blaine Stone and Helen Hickman; one nephew, Jimmy Blaine; and the love of his life, his wife, Doris Qualls Hickman, on Nov. 27, 1996, whom he married Dec. 18, 1948, in Greenup, Ky.
He is survived by two daughters, Phyllis (Wayne) Harris of Minford and Janet Noel of New Boston; two sons, Gary (Chris) Hickman of Lucasville and Johnny Hickman of Ocoee, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and and Rich Fetty of New Boston; 13 grandchildren, J. D. Harris, Debi Lykins, Sharee Evans, Michelle Adams, Stacey McGraw, Jacob Hickman, Rachael Hickman, Ryan Hickman, Michael Hickman, Joseph Tucker, Cristi Mitchell , Shannon Tucker and Lurie Tucker; 12 great grandchildren; two nephews, Vernon (Cindy) Blaine and Williard (Elaine) Buckler: a niece, Anita (Dennis) Bone; and his best friend, Luois Sloas.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen in Minford, with Pastor Dan Widdig and Pastor Gary Dheel officiating. Burial will be in Scioto Cemetary. Friends may call at the funeral home in Minford from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday.
