Edna Coriell McLaughlin, 90

 Edna Coriell McLaughlin, 90, of Minford, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 5, 2004, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.  She was born Aug. 28, 1913, to the late Edward H. and Ella R. Gampp Coriell in Scioto County, Ohio.

  She was a 1931 graduate of Minford High School, and a 1933 graduate of the University of Rio Grande. She was a retired teacher from the Minford school district. Beginning her career at Mead School in 1933, she served as principal at the former Bonser Run School and retired from Minford Primary School in 1980.

  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto McLaughlin, on Dec. 24, 1979; and by her sister, Mable Coriell Wiehle in 1993.  Edna was a member of the Sunshine Church of Christ and had a heart for seeing people obey the Gospel of Christ. She and her husband were instrumental in building the former Harding Avenue Church of Christ in Sciotoville, Ohio. Edan was a devoted Christian, wife, mother and friend. She loved driving her car, being outdoors, shopping, spending time with her boys and encouraging people in their faith. For those who knew her best, she was a truly remarkable woman who never took one day for granted. She enjoyed all of the time God gave her.

  She is survived by her son, Ed (Elaine) McLaughlin of Minford; two grandsons, Eric McLaughlin of Minford and Doug (Rachele) McLaughlin, also of Minford; several nieces and nephews; and two wonderful friends, Janet Shuff of Wheelersburg and Deloris Howell of Minford. 

 Arrangements are under the direction of Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2004. Graveside services will be at Batterson Cemetery on Thursday, July 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. with Eric McLaughlin, Steve Miller and Jamie Riley officiating. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of 3 North at SOMC for their excellent care and concern over the last week and to the SOMC Rehab center for all of the help over the last seven years in keeping Edna strong, healthy and vibrant.
