Elmer A. Allen

Elmer A. Allen, 64, of Allen Road, Minford., died Wednesday, October 18, 2000 at his residence.  He was born on July 14, 1936 on Allen Road, a son of the late Everett and Maude (Shear) Allen. He was born the second time in 1972, this time never to die again. 

He was a cable splicer for General Telephone Company, retiring in 1988 with 25 years of service.  He was a member and deacon of Lakeside Community Church in New Boston, a graduate of Minford High School in the Class of 1956, and was in the Army National Guard.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce (Duzan) Allen, whom he married on May 12, 1962 in Ribolt, KY; two daughters and sons-in-law; Christina and Larry Stanley of Portsmouth; Shona and Randy Wheeler of Minford; two grandchildren:  Brent Frazie and Sheldon Wheeler, both of Minford; two brothers and sister-in-law:  Orval and Bessie Allen of Beaver; Eugene and Freda Allen of New Orleans, LA; two sisters:  Mrs. Lovelle Kronk of Springfield; Mrs. Jack (Opal) Murphy of Portsmouth; an aunt and uncle, Kathleen (Allen) and Tidd McCain of Minford; one brother-in-law: Mike Duzan of Rigrish Addition, Sciotoville; and many neices and nephews.  He was preceded in death by one son: Shanning Ray Allen on September 20, 1968; one sister:  Doris Whittaker on Feb. 11, 1993; and one brother; Clifford Allen of Calhoun, GA. 

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 20, 2000 at 11 a.m. at Lakeside Community Church in New Boston with Pastor Gerald Penix officiating.  Burial in Scioto Burial Park.  Arrangements under the direction of the Erwin-Dodson Funeral home in Minford.  Graveside Military rites conducted by James Irwin Post No. 622 American Legion.  The family's favorite charity is Lakeside Community Church.
