Gerald Godwin Turner, 79, of Minford, died Friday, April 2, 2004, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

Born July 28, 1924, in Scioto County, a son of the late Charles G. and Erma Louise Peach Turner, he was a lifetime resident of Scioto County.

He was a retired guard for the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility for 23 years.

He was a co-owner of Turner Brothers Dairy and Produce in Minford, and a graduate of Minford HIgh School in the class of 1942. His love of farmeing was one of his greatest passions.

He is survived by two sons, Chareles R. and Robbin Turner of Lucasville, Loren Dean and Tina Turner of Rustburg, Va; two daughters, Sherry and Randy Dodridge of Minford, Bonnie Turner of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jessica and Kevin Hallum, Kevin Turner, Melissa and Brad Salyers, Sarah Turner, David Turner; three great-grand-children, Cameron Salyers, Hayden Salyers and Caitin Hallum; former daughter in law, Linda Turner, and extended family member Lisa Farris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Jean Jones Turner on Dec. 13, 2001, whom he married on March 24, 1950; one son, Gerald G. Turner Jr., Oct. 10, 1994; and one brother, Vaughn H. Turner on July 12, 2001.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Irwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Dan Widdig officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
