Grace Harness

Viola Grace Harness, 86, of Yale Drive, Minford died at 12:05
a.m. Friday, Dec.19, 2003, at Heartland of Portsmouth.
Born May 7, 1917, a daughter of the late Frank Craig and Ethel Craig Clark,
she was a lifetime resident of Scioto County. She was a decoted minister's
wife for 51 years.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Harness
of Pleasant Drive, Lucasville, Jack and Nancy Harness of Bierly Road, Portsmouth,
Donald and Virginia Harness of Spring Road, Westerville, and David and Deborah
Harness of Pleasant Drive, Lucasville; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara
and James Cooper of Route 73, McDermott; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren;
and two half sisters, Aileen Felty of Portsmouth and betty Conaway of Lucasville.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, the Rev. Franklyn
Harness, whom she married August 10, 1935, In Greenup, Ky.,by the late W.H.
Muncy. They
renewed their vows Sunday, aug.6, 1995, at Long Run Free Will Baptist Church,
where the Rev.Harness had pastored for 34 years.
She also was preceeded in death by a grandson, Craig Harness; a brother,
Frank Craig; and a sister, Marguerite Miller.
Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Long Run Free Will Baptist
Church at Clarktown, with the Rev.John King pastor, officiating, and interment
in Lucasville Cemetary, under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral
Home in Minford.
Friends may call the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. and at the church
Monday one hour before the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Long Run Free Will Baptist Church
Building Fund.
If Grace could speak, she would say, "Some day you may get a message
that my soul has fled, They may even tell the family that the one they loved
is
dead, But if you should heat them weeping, just because they think I'm gone,
You can tell them not to worry, For I've just gone over home."
