Harry Eugene Woodworth

Harry Eugene Woodworth, 75, of Minford, died Thursday, June
10, 2004, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Ceter in Cincinnati.
He was born Oct. 23, 1928, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Carl and Nona
Bennett Woodworth. His family moved to Dayton, Ohio, in 1943, where he graduated
from Fairview High School in 1946.
A loyal veteran of the United States Army, Harry served as a reconnaissance
infantryman in the 101st Airborne durning the Korean War. He was trained
as a machinist and electrician, operated heavy equipment at Detroit Steel/Cyclops
for 18 years.
He served for 24 years as an elder of the Sunshine Church of Christ in Minford.
Known affectionately as the "Candy Man" by the children at the
church in recent years, he taught numerous Bible classes and gave generously
of his
time and resources in every endeavor of the congregation.
Harry is survived by his wife, Vivian Bonzo Woodworth of Minford, whom he
married on April 5, 1952, at Sunshine Church of Christ; a son, Linden Duke
Woodworth of Minford; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Kenneth Bissell
of Georgetown, Texas; two brothers, Carl Woodworth Jr. of Dayton, Ohio, and
Jim Woodworth of Greenville, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Olivia, Aaron
and Zachary Bissell of Georgetown, Texas.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Sunshine Church
of Christ in Minford with Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Batterson
Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral
Home in Minford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sunshine Church of Christ.
