Janet Margaret Hoover, 68, of Minford, died Sunday, January 4, 2004, at Southern Ohio Medical Center-Scioto. Born February 13, 1935, in Friendship, Scioto County, a daughter of the late Adolph and Ruth (Ratliff) Sowards, she was a lifetime resident of Scioto County. She was a homemaker and of the baptist faith.
She is survived by three sons, Herbert Hoover Jr. of Minford, Robert (Angie)
Hoover of Kentucky and Timothy (Dixie) Hover of South Webster; seven daughters,
Marquita (Ronald) Blume of Portsmouth, Debra Jordan (Jimmy Arthurs) of
Minford, Margaret (Randy) Scaff of Lucasville, Linda (William) Twinam
of Portsmouth,
Pat (Charles) Twinam of Minford, Mary (John) Collier of Minford, and Tina
Helus of Portsmouth; three brothers, Russell Sowards of Sciotodale, Bill
Sowards of Sciotoville, and Donald Sowards of Wheelersburg; two sisters,
Jean Atkins of Lucasville, and Sharon Kay Kennard of Portsmouth; a brother-in-law,
Ron Hoover of Portsmouth; 16 granchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband,
Herbert Mark Hoover, July 31, 1993; and one son, Albert Hoover in infancy;
two brothers,
Paul and Roger Sowards; and four sisters, Eileen Vaughn, Kathleen Thompson,
Deloris Mae Hoover and Norma Toller.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2004,
at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Pastor Don Noel officiating.
Burial will be
in University Cemetary in Rubyville. Friends may call the funeral home
from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday.
