John D. Kester, 47, of Minford, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2001 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born March 7, 1954 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of Betty Jean (Headlee) Kester of Minford, and the late Gene Kester. He was a salesman for Orkin of Portsmouth; graduate of Minford High School in the class of '72, a member and past president of Minford Volunteer Fire Department, and attended Ohio and Shawnee State Universities.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Miller) Kester; two sons: Jason Kester of Minford; and Corey Miller of Minford; one daughter: Jessica Kester of Portsmouth; three step-children: Jim Liles of Columbus; Angie Seiler of Portsmouth; Kim Phillips of Minford; one brother: Dean Kester of Minford; one sister: Teresa Sparks of Wheelersburg; and eight grand children.

He was preceded in death by one brother: Gerald Edward Kester in infancy; maternal grand parents: Leeman and Ruth Headlee; Paternal Grandparents; David and Ethel Kester.

Funeral services were held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Rev. Richard North and Rev. N. Gene James officiating.
