Mana Jenkins Jr., 68, of Minford, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Born April 24, 1935, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Mana and Goldie Kimbler Jenkins, he was a former employee of Empire-Detroit Steel Corporation and New Boston Coke retiring with 33 years of service, and was a baliff in Portsmouth Municipal Court and Scioto County Court of Common Pleas for 10 years. He was a graduate of Glenwood High School in the class of 1953 and a member of Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union.

Mana was a distinguished Mason who was active in almost every branch of the Masonic Freaternity. He was a Past Master and former Secretary of the Lucasville Lodge No.465, F&A.M., later transferring his membership to Rome Lodge No.535, F&A.M. He was a member of the Acient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cincinnati, recieving the Thirty-third Degree in 1998. He was a member of Chillocothe York Rite Bodies and was Past High Priest and former Secretary of Mount Vernon Chapter No.23, R.A.M.; Past Illustrious Master and former Recorder of Solomon Council No. 70, R.&S.M.; Past Commander and former Recorder of Calvary Commandery No.13, K.T. For his outstanding work in the York Rite he was knighted in Ohio Priory, No.18, Knights of the York Cross of Honor, and had served as Imminent Prior in 1998. He was also Past Patron of the Lucasville Order of Eastern Star, No.495. He was past District Deputy Grand Master - 7th Masonic Distrcit; Past District Education Officer - 7th Masonic District; member fo Elk Fork Lodge No.755 - Elamton, Ky.; Allied Masonic Degrees; Greenup, Kentucky Horse Traders and Knight Masons of Ireland - Shannon Council No.28, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by he wife, Hester Conley Jenkins, whom he married Oct. 23, 1954, in Liberty Ind.; three sons, Mark (Angela) Jenkins of Sciotoville, John (Anita) Jenkins of Minford and Paul (Delphia) Jenkins of Minford; and one daughter, Kathy (Scott) Howard of Minford; one sister, Betty Jenkins of Lucasville; and 11 grandchildren. Tracy McHone, Cpl. Mark Alan Jenkins, Amanda Jenkins, Rachel Jenkins, Wes Jenkins, Tery Lutz, Darren Lutz, Seth Howard, Evan Howard, Jared Howard and Paige Howard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Jenkins and Roger Jenkins; and three sisters, Geneva Johnson, Wilma May and a sister in infancy.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union in New Boston, with the Rev. Gary Heimbach and Corbert L. Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and at the church form 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. A Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday immediately followed by a Scottish Rite Ring Serivce and 33 Degree Service.
