Opal Dodridge

Opal L. Dodridge, 86, a former Minford area resident, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Logan Elm Health Care Center in Circleville. Born July 25, 1917, in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Pharoah and mary Remy Childers, she was a homaker and a member of Harrison Mills Church of Christ in Christian Union.

She is survived by seven sons, DOn and Ruth Dodridge of Sciotoville, David and Teresa Dodridge of Mount Vernon, Gerald and Sharon DOdridge of Lucasville RObert and Barbara Dodridge of Mount Vernon, Gerald and Sharon Dodridge of Lucasville, Robert and Barbara Dodridge of Columbus, Jim and Janet Dodridge of Oak Hill, John Dodridge of Lucasville and Randy and Sherry Dodridge of Minford; six daughters, Anna and DOn Lucas of Tennessee, Los McElwee of Indiana, Nancy and Tim Bost of West Chester, Linda and Kelly Agin of Chillicothe, Eva and Stanley Robbins of Wheelersburg, and Debbie and Malcolm Schoener of Columbus; 38 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold James Dodridge, Dec. 22, 1993, whom she married April 18, 1934; one daughter, Joann Dodridge; one sone in infancy; four sisters, Madge Conkel, Shirlie Beasley, Verla Voorheis and Carol Casto; five brothers, Bill Childers, John Childers, Jesse Childers, Ervin Childers and Clyde Childers; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Victory Chapel Church of Christ in Christian Union on Millers Run Road, Lucasville, with her son-in-law, the Rev. Malcolm Schoener officiating. Burial will be in Jacobs Cemetery. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and at the church one hour before the service Sunday.
