Death is Apparent Suicide

Minford -

Paul Douglas Sparks, 26, of Newark, formerly of Minford, was dead on arrival at a Columbus hospital Monday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A Scioto County native, he worked as a builder for contracting companies.

Surviving are a daughter, Amanda Lynn Sparks of New Boston, his mother, Phyllis Justice Sparks of Portsmouth, two sisters, Lt. Sue Laipply of Bucyrus and Kelley Sparks of Portsmouth; a brother, Bill of Groveport, and the grandparents, Virgil Sparks of Portsmouth and Russell and Ada Justice of Sciotoville.

Services are planned at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar St. Church of Christ in Christian Union at New Boston with Rev. Robert Barth officiating, and burial in Rushtown Cemetery.

Friends may call at Pennington Funeral Home in New Boston from 6 to 9 tonight from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, and at the church one hour before services.
