Pete Comer Jr., 72
George Franklin "Pete" Comer Jr., 72, of Minford, died Thursday, Nov. 6 2003, at his residence.
Born Sept. 5, 1931, in Madison Township, Scioto Country, a son of the late George Franklin Comer Sr. and Dorothy Marie (McGranahan) Comer, he was a lifetime resident of Scioto Country. He was a lift operator for Dayton-Walther Inc. of Portsmouth, retiring in 1992 with 30 and one-half years of service. He attended Hamilton Glades Free Will baptist Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice (Evans) Comer, whom he married Dec. 24, 1954, in South Webster; two sons, George F. Comer III and his wife Janice of Minford and Dwight David Comer of Utica, Ohio; three daughters Kay Adkins and her husband Charles of Oak Hill, Pam Howard of Minford and Hope Comer of Minford; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Avanell Wheeler of Portsmouth and Martha Parker of Oak Hill; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, Denver, Clayton, Edison, Forrest, Ronnie, Elton, Alton, and Gerald; and four sister, Geraldine Smith, Louise Brafford, Annabell Williams and Ethel Mae Comer.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Danny Rowe officiating. Burial will be in White Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday and one hour prior to the service Sunday. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the James Irwin Post No.622 American Legion.
