Rev. Raymond Kenneth Comer

The Rev. Raymond Kenneth Comer 65, of Minford went to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at his residence after a long illness. Born Aug. 15,1938, in Jackson County, OH a son of the late Denver H. and Irene Bloomfield Comer, he was a retired mechanic and established the Walkin in Faith Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ruth Copas Vest Comer, whom he married Sept. 5, 1993; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Jodi Webb of West Portsmouth; one stepson, John and Pam Vest of Arizona; six stepdaughters, Jenny and Wayne Blackburn, Frances and Rocky Williams, Mona and Russell Garrett, all of Minford, Lee and Ken Parsons of Kansas, Gina and Ronnie Hodge of Portsmouth, and Vicki and Steve Miller of Virginia; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Helen Sharp of Minford Fern Belena and Judy Comer, both of Oak Hill, Linda Jonesof South Webster, and Joanne Porter of Portsmouth; and two brothers, Ernest "Tubb" Comer of Lucasville and Virgil Comer of Minford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Ruth Sealy Comer, July 3, 1993; two brothers, willard "Bill" Comer and Rusell "Buck" Comer; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford, with Rev. Hobert Gwin officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
