Samuel Stockham's Home Burns

Fire in Madison Township. - The residence of Samuel Stockham, in Madison township, near Harrisonville, was destroyed by fire on Sunday, the 2nd inst., while the family were absent from home.  The origin of the fire is unknown.  It was a substantial frame house, and was totally destroyed together with the greater part of his furniture.  The fire was discovered near the middle of the day by the neighbors who were enabled to carry out some of the personal property.  The smoke house was almost burned, but the meat therin was saved.  The loss is estimated at $1,500 to $2,000, upon which there is an insurance of $500.
