Fire Department is Organized

A few days before Christmas in 1943, a house caught fire and burned in Minford.  The house was located on the site where the Minford Dairy Bar now exists.  That same evening, Mr. Bradbury, Mr. Ed Erwin, Blaine Powell met with Floyd Powell at his place of business.  They talked about the necessity of having a fire station for the Minford community.

Mr. Earl Pfleger drew up the petition and they went soliciting for money that same evening.  The four men collected $1,000 in one evening.

In the spring of 1944, the men heard of a truck being for sale in Ironton, Ohio.  They purchased the truck in June for $1,500.
