Two men were arrested in connection with a Sept. 26 shooting of a cow and
a steer.
According to a report from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, a person
called to report that someone had shot two of his cattle at his farm on Winters
Road in Madison Township.
According to a report, sometime on Saturday or Sunday, a farmer reported
that someone had shot one of his large Red Angus cows in the right side
of the chest
causing a severe wound and bleeding from the mouth. A second bovine, a medium-sized
steer, was also apparently shot, and the carcass was field-dressed and then
transported it away. The cattle were valued at $1,000 each.
After getting an anonymous tip, detectives went to a house on White Gravel
Road and found evidence of the butchered animal in plain sight in the yard.
Detectives
said they gathered up the evidence and questioned one of the suspects,
who admitted to the crime and gave up the gun used to shoot the cattle.
Floyd Howell III, 25, of 5800 White Gravel Road, was charged with felony
theft and criminal damaging. Brent Fultz, 27, also of 5800 White Gravel
Road, is
charged
with felony receiving of stolen property.
Although the two men have been charged, the investigation continues to
determine if anyone else was involved.
