Green S. Neary

Green S. Neary was born in Harrisonville in 1844. His father was a native of Ireland and his mother was Ann Vangorder from New York. He was the fifth of nine children.

Neary served in the Civil War and was captured by the Confederates at Winchester, VA, in 1864. He was held prisoner at Libby, Danville, Lynchburg, and Belle Isle.

After the war he married [1] Hester Tibbs. They had a daughter who died at the age of two years. Hester died of typhoid. He later married [2] Lizzie E. Humphrey. They had a daughter, Edna.
