John L. Daniels
John L. Daniels was born Nov. 26, 1800 Westchester Co. NY. He was married Apri 1, 1838, to Camilla Still in Madison Township by James Sampson. He was a father of six children: James S., Le Quincy, Artemesia, Mary, Camilla, and Alma D.
Mr. Daniels was one of the most educated men in the area. He had a teaching certificate vaild in the States of New York, Connecticut, Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, and Kentucky. At one time he was the principal of the Marietta College. His son, James, was first to volunteer for the Civil War from the township. His daughter, Alma D., served as Postmistress at Scioto in 1878.
