Joseph Bonzo

Joseph Bonzo was born in Beaver County, PA, in 1821. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bonzo who came from Switzerland. Joseph came to Madison Township when he was twelve years of age. He married Mary Wilson of Madison Township. The following children were living at the time of his death in 1916: Joshua Bonzo of Madison Township, Louis Bonzo of Vancouver, WA; Joe Bonzo of Portsmouth, OH; Rachel Scherer of Plain City, OH; Amanda Allen of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Mary Jane Alexander of Madison Township. Mr. Bonser had two siblings who survived him; Theophilus Bonzo and Mary Jane Bonzo Chapman.

Mr. Bonzo was a farmer. At the time of his death he owned 500 acres of farm land and was the biggest tax-payer in Madison Township. He was a member of the Madison Township United Brethren Church, and he was buried in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery which is located near the site of the old Bonzo home.
