Lewis Smith Bennett
Lewis Smith Bennett was born in Madison Township March 22, 1849. His father was William H. Bennett. His mother was Elizabeth Beauchamp of Pike County. His grandfather was John Bennett. He was the third of nine children.
Lewis served in the Civil War in Company G of the 91st OVI when he was fifteen years old. He was wounded in the battle of Lynchburg and again at the battle of Opequan.
After the war he farmed with his father until his marriage in 1870 to Lottie E. Brown. After his marriage he moved to Marion Township in Pike Co., OH. He and his wife had the following children: Florence Viola, John B., Sarah M., William D., and Libbie May.
