Waitman McDaniel

Waitman McDaniel was a resident of Madison Township prior to the Civil War. Not much is known about his early life except that he married Eliza Shoemaker, daughter of Abraham Sr. and Mary [Polly] Dever of Jackson County OH.Waitman and Eliza had at least two children: Hezekiah, who married Melissa Toland, and another child whose name and sex are unknown.

Waitman was killed at the Battle of Shenandoah Valley in Virginia on June 9, 1864. He was a member of Company B, 126th OVI. He is buried beside his wife, who died September 25 1888, in the Jenkins Cemetery in Madison Township.
