William Brown Coriell

William Brown Coriell was born in Harrison Township on May 23, 1843. He was educated in the area schools and raised to be a farmer. In 1867, he became a contractor for the construction of pike [road] from Sciotoville to Munn's Run. William was a Harrison Township trustee for two years before becoming Harrison Township Treasurer [clerk]. He held this position for five years. He was also a delegate to the Republican Convention of the state of Ohio in 1891. This convention nominated William McKinley [future president] for governor.

William Brown Coriell was a large landowner. He had farms in Madison and Green Townships. His farm on the Harrisonville Pike consisted of three hundred acres.

William Brown Coriell married Ann Amelia Crull on January 19, 1868. Ann Amelia was the daughter of David Crull and a granddaughter of Judge Samuel Crull. To this union the following children were born: Hattie May married Dr. T.H. McCann; Charlie; Lida B. married Dr. T.H. McCann after her sister's death; Ella married Charles E. Hayword; Lewis married Florida Mansfield; Edward H. married Ella R. Gampp; Ira married [1] Katherine Poole and [2nd] Agnes Bennett; and Henry who married Florence Lemon.
