Every High School in the country receives a nomination packet each Spring. They have until August to nominate one boy and one girl senior student who best exemplify the standards as set by the Wendy's High School Heisman Program. Although, it shares the "Heisman" name, this is not a football award. Students are judged on their academic achievements, community service and athletic accomplishments in any sport.
The local Wendy's Franchise J.A.G.S./J.A.C.S., Inc. encourages all schools to participate in this program. Letters are sent to area schools in support of the prgram followed by a visit to school administrators to encourage participation.
As the candidates are announced, J.A.G.S./J.A.C.S., Inc. honors each candidate and school officials from all participation local schools with a luncheon at their local Wendy's. Each candidate receives Wendy's memorabilia and a Wendy's High School Heisman school jacket patch. All participating schools are also presented a plaque displaying the names of their Wendy's High School Heisman candidates.
