Rural School Squads Take Part in
County and State Leagues
Organizing debate teams for the first time in the history of the school. Minford High school pupils have taken part this year in both state and county debates. In the state league they have made a credible showing in debating against the veteran teams of Oak Hill, Athens, and Hamden. In all cases the battle of wits was close enough between the opposing teams to cause the audience's closest attention. In some cases only 3 margin of one point deciding the winning.
Minford High school is the only rural high school in Scioto county taking part in state debates this year. However, three high schools, Green township, Wheelersburg and Minford organized debating teams among themselves. Of these three, Minford, by defeating Wheelersburg's negative and affirmative teams, become county champions.
The two Minford captains, Miss Schuler (Negative), and Miss Dever (Affirmative), with another member of the squad accompanied the coach to Columbus where they heard and saw the final state debate at Ohio State University, where Wooster High school received the state championship. It is to be mentioned that a number of Scioto county schools will take part in state and county debates another year. Miss Postor debate coach holds a master of arts degree from Columbia University.
