Boy Killed, 22 Hurt As Truck Auto Collide

A boy was killed and 22 persons were injured, four seriously, in a truck and automobile collision two and one-half miles west of here today.

Robert Hyland, 11, died almost instantly, and Alta Elliott, 14; James Darby, 22; Floyd Hunter, 26 and L. O. Kennedy, 30 were removed to hospitals.

The truck was carrying 18 members of the Pond Run grange, their families and friends when it collided with an automobile driven by Wilbur Thornton, accompanied by Clarence and (unreadable) Rudity and Floyd Chick Hunter.

Thornton and the Rudity brothers were taken into custody pending further investigation.
