Ironton, Ohio -
IRONTON, OHIO (AP)-- A radio station president was jailed here Friday night after trying to broadcast an account of the Ironton-Portsmouth High School football game from a truck outside the stadium without permission of school authorities.
Marshall Rosene, 47, president of WNXT, Portsmouth, was released on $35 bond early today after more than four hours in jail.
He was scheduled to appear Monday before Municipal Judge John J. Gallagher on charges of "driving a truck off a track route and disobeying an officer." A capacity crowd of more than 5,000 saw Portsmouth win 44-0.
George Brown, member of the Ironton School Board, said no live broadcasts have been permitted until Friday night. He said WPAY, Portsmouth, and WIRO, Ironton were granted last-minute permission to broadcast the game because it was a sell-out.
WNXT's attorney, Cyrus Kahl, regarding the charge of "disobeying an officer, " said:
"There is no law which prohibits a station from broadcasting a football game."
