Columbus, O - Sept. 12

A report comes from Portsmouth to the effect that Jim Thorpe, the world-famous Indian athlete, has signed to coach the professional team in the River city the coming season.

Thorpe will receive the largest guarantee ever offered an athlete to coach a professional football team in this section.  He will bring with him Deke Lynch formerly played with the Ironton Tanks, and Rapp with the Columbus Tigers.

The chamber of commerce and local civic clubs are assisting in boosting the team.  The opening game will be played Sunday, Sept. 25, with the Rochester Clothiers of Columbus.  It will be in the nature of a Thorpe day.
