PORTSMOUTH, O., Nov. 25

The Spartans, Portsmouth's entry in the National Professional Football league will meet the Ironton Tanks for the championship of the Tri-State region at Portsmouth on Thanksgiving afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.

With the exception of the Green Bay Packers game which will be played here December 14, the tussle Thursday afternoon is expected to draw one of the largest crowds of the season.

The Spartans and Tanks have played two games so far this season, the Spartans winning the first game 7 to 6.  In a night game the Tanks reversed the situation, winning 16 to 15 score.

The Tanks under the direction of Greasy Neale, veteran college coach, have piled up an impressive record this fall by their wins over the New York Giants and the Chicago Bears, taking the first a score of 13 to 12 and the second 26 to 13.

Coach Harold Griffen, former Iowa Captain and all-American center is completing his second year as mentor of the Spartans.

After dropping four games in a row, Griffen purchased four new stars from Providence who will perform against the Tanks.  Leading the list is Frosty Peters, all-Western quarterback of Illinois, who holds the world's record for drop kicks, in one game having kicked 17.  Three linesmen have been secured from Providence.  Pup Graham of Dayton, Ray Smith, all-Missouri Valley Center of Missouri.  Jap Douds, all-America tackle from W. and J.
