Cyclops Expansion Rejected

The Cyclops Corp. says it cannot justify the $100 million expense, so it has discarded plans for expansion of its Portsmouth, Ohio, plant.

The firm said Monday the expansion was to have been undertaken to make the plant reasonably competitive and in compliance with environmental standards. The plant manufactures flat-rolled carbon steel.

"Other alternatives now being explored include the possible sale of the plant or the eventual operation of only a part of the facilities," a spokesman said.
