Col. Robert G. Ingersoll, the great agnostic, appeared in the Music Hall on the west side of Chillicothe between Seventh and Eighth Sts. during the festival marking the centennial of 1876.
Reunions of soldiers were frequently staged in Portsmouth with many prominent military figures taking part in the encampments.
