Beverly "Barney" Edmund Thomas died in Reno at a convalescent home early this morning
Born in Lincoln, Ill., 79 years ago, Mr. Thomas was a son of one of the old pioneering families who settled in what is now Lucasville, Ohio, in 1817.
Mr. Thomas spent his early life in Lucasville and received his education in the public schools there. After finishing his education he went to Colorado for his health and to be with his brother who was a physician.
While in Colorado he became interested in mining, and did considerable mining in Creede and Cripple creek. He was also postmaster for several years at Del Norte, Colo.
Later he went to Mexico as consultant for American mining interests and was caught in the Mexico revolution in 1900. In 1906 he came to Goldfield, Nev., following mining there and in Lida, and was a successful leaser in the Diamond-field district for a number of years.
Mr. Thomas retired in the late 1930's and had lived in Carson until his last illness.
Mr. Thomas had been a member of lodge No. 465 F&AM of Lucasville, Ohio, for 55 years, and several years ago a special meeting of Carson lodge No. 1 F&AM was held in his honor and to present to him a 50 year button and medal in behalf of his home lodge.
