Good Pioneer Now No More

Mrs. Margaret Schnoebelen, widow of Vincent Schnoebelen, whose death was recently chronicled in the Press-Citizen, was in her 88th year, having been born in Angelica, New York, July 1, 1833.

She died at her home in Riverside Sunday, April 29, after passing 71 years of her life in Washington county, where she had resided continuously since coming west from Wheelersburg, ohio, in 1849, save for two years at Boulder, Colo.

Until three years ago, she was a very active women. Then came a nervous breakdown and since the she has been a victim of partial paralysis. February, she was stricken by influenza, and had been in frail health since then. About 10 days before the end, she became worse, and nothing could be done for her. Funeral services were conducted at St. Mary's church, Riverside, Rev. B. Jacobsmeier, officiating. Six of her grandsons were the pallbearers, an unusual circumstances.

Mrs. Schnoebelen was formerly Margaret Cecelia Dautremont. She was married November 28, 1854. Six children were born to the Schnoebelens, five of whom survive, Frank P., Cedar Rapids; and Anna, of Riverside. There are also 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Frank Dautremont, of Monticello, Iowa.

Mrs. Schnoebelen was a devout Catholic, and was loved and respected by everyone who knew her, in church circles, and elsewhere.
