Portsmouth, O., Nov. 14.--Miss Bertha Wright, one of the most beautiful and accomplished young ladies in this city, was probably fatally burned. She was sitting reading beneath a hanging lamp at her home on West Seventh Street, when the hangings of the lamp gave way, and it exploded at her feet, the flames enveloping her at once. She was alone, and ran screaming to the street, her clothing flaming high ablove her head. Her cries attracted Captain Williamson, chief of the fire department, and he ran to her rescue. After some desperate work he succeeded in smothering the flames, but not until the poor girl was burned beyond recognition. Her cries to be put out of her horrible agony were heartrending. The unfortunate girl is a daughter of Henry Wright, the wellknown contractor. She is 21 years old.
